The Centerburg Public Library has woven together a summer calendar that blends creativity, literacy, and community fellowship. From crafting tables and story circles to book club conversations, STEM exploration, and LEGO building, July’s lineup reflects the library’s role as a gathering place for imagination and connection.
The month opened July 6 with Summer Crafting, a come‑and‑go program that filled the library with families and individuals eager to try simple projects. Supplies were provided, and participants stayed as long or as little as they liked. On July 7, children gathered for Summer Storytime, led by Tina, Anna, and Taylor, who brought stories, songs, and movement to life before guiding a simple craft. Immediately afterward, the gazebo next to the library hosted the first Picnic in the Park, where lunches were unpacked and conversations flowed. The week continued July 8 with the debut of One Star Wednesdays, a playful online event where Tina and Valorie read one‑star reviews of popular fiction, leaving followers to guess the titles.
The momentum carries forward. On Monday, July 13, Summer Crafting returns from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with additional sessions July 20 and July 27. Tuesdays bring a double feature: Summer Storytime at 11 a.m. on July 14, 21, and 28, followed by Picnic in the Park at 11:30 a.m., encouraging families to linger for fellowship. Wednesdays continue the fun online, with One Star Wednesdays scheduled July 15, 22, and 29.
Thursday, July 16, marks the gathering of the “Bring Your Own Book” Book Club at 6 p.m., a casual circle for adults 17 and up to share recent reads and longtime favorites. The club will meet monthly, with future dates set for August 20, September 17, October 15, and November 19.
Friday, July 17, introduces a hands‑on STEM Event: Binary Code Necklaces at 1 p.m., where participants learn the basics of coding while creating beadwork designs. Saturday, July 18, caps the week with LEGO Club at 1 p.m., inviting builders of all ages, and the deadline for the Summer Reading Short Story Contest at 3 p.m.
Together, these programs form a narrative of summer at the Centerburg Public Library—one of creativity, learning, and community spirit.
