Ohio Eastern Star Home announced the retirement of CEO Michele Engelbach, who will step down on July 3 after 14 years of leadership.
Engelbach has guided the organization through growth, innovation, and transformation. Her tenure included the opening of the Esther Buchwald Neighborhoods for long‑term care in 2016 and the grand opening of Pine Hill Independent Senior Living in December 2024. These milestones reflected her commitment to expanding services and enhancing care for older adults.
“It has been an incredible honor to serve Ohio Eastern Star Home and the residents, families, and staff who make this community so special,” Engelbach said. “Over the past 14 years, I have had the privilege of witnessing countless meaningful moments and working alongside a dedicated team committed to excellence in senior care.”
Engelbach also steered the organization through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID‑19 pandemic, ensuring stability and continuity of care while supporting residents, families, and staff during a critical time. Her leadership helped Ohio Eastern Star Home maintain its mission through adversity and positioned the organization for continued success. To support a seamless transition, Engelbach will remain in a part‑time role following retirement and continue contributing to the expansion of Pine Hill Independent Senior Living.

Ohio Eastern Star Home also announced Nathaneal “Blu” Johnson as the incoming CEO. Johnson brings extensive experience in long‑term care and health care organizations, offering strong expertise and compassionate leadership. His appointment ensures continuity and a forward‑looking approach to advancing the organization’s mission.
Following retirement, Engelbach plans to spend time traveling and exploring new opportunities while remaining connected to the Ohio Eastern Star Home community in a part‑time capacity. Her departure marks the end of a significant era for the organization, but her influence and contributions will continue shaping its future.
