The Knox County Department of Job and Family Services announced two upcoming community events scheduled for June, inviting local families and foster parents to participate.
According to the announcement, a community resource event will take place on Thursday, June 11 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Worship Center, located at 1051 Beech Street in Mount Vernon. The event will offer two hours of continuing education for licensed Knox County Department of Job and Family Services foster parents. Dinner, drinks, and desserts will be provided. Childcare is available for attendees who RSVP by emailing [email protected].
The department also highlighted a free Father’s Day community event titled "Fish with Dad," set for Sunday, June 21 from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Ariel-Foundation Park, located at 10 Pittsburg Avenue in Mount Vernon. The event is sponsored by the Knox County Fatherhood Initiative and New Directions.
During the Father’s Day celebration, officers from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources will be present to teach and assist participants with fishing activities. Children attending the event will receive a free rod and reel while supplies last. A meal is provided free of cost as part of an activity where families can make a sacked lunch together.
