Licking County Aging Partners offered a full slate of activities leading up to mid‑May, and the schedule continues with more opportunities for older adults to stay active, connected, and engaged.
Earlier in the week, residents gathered for Coffee Klatch on Monday, May 11, followed by Chair Exercise sessions on May 11 and May 13. Creative programming included a Pastel Waterlily Painting workshop on May 11 and a Dried Flower Hanging Arrangement class on May 13. Fitness remained a focus with Zumba Gold on May 12 and May 14, Cardio Drumming on May 12, and Chair Yoga on May 13. Social and recreational activities rounded out the schedule with Bingo on May 14 and Beginner Tap Dance the same day. These events provided residents with opportunities to move, create, and connect in meaningful ways.
The highlight of the upcoming calendar is the Senior Health and Wellness Expo on Friday, May 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Newark office, 1058 East Main Street. This expo brings together resources, information, and services to support healthy aging, offering participants practical tools and connections to enhance their well‑being.
The following week introduces a new activity: Trivia with Spencer Null on Tuesday, May 19, at 9:30 a.m. at the Newark office. Designed to challenge the mind and encourage friendly competition, the trivia session also provides a fun way to connect with peers. Space is limited, so residents are encouraged to RSVP by calling (740) 345‑0821.
These programs reflect the organization’s mission to help older adults live fully, safely, and connected. By blending fitness, creativity, education, and social engagement, Licking County Aging Partners ensures that residents have access to enriching experiences that foster independence and community.
Beyond weekly programming, the organization continues to drive long‑term initiatives. In May 2023, Licking County joined the AARP Network of Age‑Friendly States and Communities, pledging to become a more livable community for people of all ages. Supported by the Licking County Commissioners, this initiative represents a commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and collaboration.
For more information about activities or the Age‑Friendly Initiative, residents can call (740) 345‑0821 during business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or email Kim Hosler. With events like the Health and Wellness Expo and trivia sessions, Licking County Aging Partners continues to inspire action and create meaningful experiences for older adults.
