The Knox County Convention & Visitors Bureau announced on Facebook a new initiative called Knox Voices, a community storytelling project in partnership with the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County.

The project invites residents to share personal stories about their experiences in the county as part of preparations for America’s 250th anniversary. The bureau said it is not seeking formal history accounts but rather "the living, breathing stories of the people who make this county home."

"We all have that one story about our community that we tell at dinner parties—the legendary local character, the 'hidden gem' spot by the river, or the memory of a landmark that has shaped your life. As we look toward America’s 250th anniversary, we want to make sure your story is part of the record!" the bureau said.

Community members are encouraged to participate by submitting their stories through a link provided by the bureau. The effort aims to capture diverse perspectives and memories from across Knox County.

More information and submission details can be found at the official announcement on Facebook.
