The Mount Vernon Arts Consortium has announced a weekend of performances featuring two short plays, "Our Place" by Terry Wayne Gabbard and "The Yellow Wallpaper," as part of its "A Night of One-Acts" series. The productions will take place in the Black Box Theater at The Woodward on the fourth floor, with shows scheduled for Friday, February 27 at 7:30 PM, Saturday, February 28 at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, March 1 at 2 PM. Tickets are priced at $10 plus fees.

The event highlights the range of human experience through contrasting stories. "Our Place" is described as a heartwarming play that explores meaningful connections formed in ordinary environments, while "The Yellow Wallpaper" addresses themes of mental health and autonomy in an immersive setting.

Hannah Marshall, director of the event, said, "I encourage you to buckle in for a wildly divergent and, ultimately memorable experience. OUR PLACE and THE YELLOW WALLPAPER may seem worlds apart—one a lighthearted visit to a peaceful dock, the other a chilling descent into isolation and madness—yet both explore the profound human need for connection and self-expression. We hope that by pairing these two short works, you will be moved to reflect on the different ways we seek solace, sanity, and understanding in our lives. It has been a delight to collaborate with this talented cast and crew, culminating in the performance of these two stories on The Woodward Black Box stage. This process has been an invaluable learning experience, fostering a greater understanding of ourselves and one another. We are eager for you to witness the dedication and effort we have invested. We extend our gratitude for your support of MTVarts and for recognizing the incredible commitment of our actors and crew. Live theatre is a unique and vital form of creative expression, and we appreciate the opportunity to help sustain this tradition. Your attendance makes nights like this possible, and we would be grateful if you chose to share this weekend with us."

In addition to these performances, the consortium announced an upcoming production of "To Kill A Mockingbird." Auditions for select roles will be held on March 21. Additional audition dates include April 25 for "Grease" and June 27 for "The Wizard of Oz."
