Kenyon College's Center for the Study of American Democracy is organizing a spring lecture series to explore modern challenges to America's core liberal principles. The series will feature speakers from various political backgrounds, including Ivo Daalder, a former U.S. ambassador to NATO. Daalder, who has served in both the Clinton and Obama administrations, will address "The Future of the Western Alliance" on February 9 at Kenyon's Archon Auditorium.
Joseph L. Klesner, director of the Center for the Study of American Democracy and professor at Kenyon College, commented on the significance of these discussions: "America was founded on classical, liberal principles, and after the Second World War, the U.S. set up an international order that had institutions that promoted those liberal values. Now, that order is starting to decay pretty significantly."
The series includes other notable speakers such as Michael Clune from The Ohio State University discussing "What is Viewpoint Diversity?" and Laura K. Field from George Washington University speaking about her book "Furious Minds: The Making of the MAGA New Right." Events are scheduled throughout January to March at Kenyon College's campus in Gambier, Ohio.
Kenyon College, established in 1824 as Ohio's first private college official website, provides a rigorous liberal arts education and fosters close faculty-student relationships within its vibrant community.
