The Brown Family Environmental Center will host two "Himalayan Bowls and Chanting" sessions on Saturday, Jan. 24, offering participants a meditative experience through sound and vibration.

The one-hour program, led by Dr. Allan Bazzoli, M.D., will begin at 10:30 a.m. and again at 1:00 p.m. Each session combines the tones of 18 Himalayan singing bowls with harmonic chants drawn from Native American, Tibetan, and other cultural traditions. Organizers say the event is designed to promote relaxation and transcendence through immersive sound.

Attendance is limited to 12 participants per session. The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for students, payable by cash or check. Half of the proceeds will be donated to the Brown Family Environmental Center.

Reservations are required and can be made by emailing Bonnie Schutte at [email protected]. The program will take place at the BFEC, located at 9781 Laymon Road in Gambier.

Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and should be physically able to lie down and rise from a cement floor. One half-inch yoga mat will be provided, but attendees may bring additional mats, blankets, or supports for warmth and comfort.

To maintain a peaceful environment, organizers request that attendees leave cell phones and electronic devices in their vehicles and refrain from wearing perfumes or scented products. Early arrival, 15 minutes before the scheduled start, is recommended.

Dr. Bazzoli’s program blends sound therapy and cultural chanting to create what he describes as a “transcendent experience of vibration and sound.”

The Brown Family Environmental Center regularly hosts wellness and nature-based programming aimed at fostering community engagement and personal well-being.
