Mount Vernon honors Seavolt, Woods for City Council service

Mount Vernon Mayor Matt Starr recognized Janice Seavolt and Tammy Woods with proclamations and U.S. flags for their years of service on the City Council during its final meeting of 2025.

According to a meeting video, Safety-Service Director Tanner Salyers, who also served with them on the City Council, said, "I'd just like to extend my congratulations to Tammy and Janice." He added that it had been a pleasure serving alongside them and mentioned occasions when he sought guidance from Woods.

Starr expressed gratitude towards Seavolt for her 14 years of service, which began in January 2012. He commended her integrity, diligence, and commitment to public service as an at-large member. Starr highlighted her leadership in fiscal responsibility, economic development, infrastructure, public safety, and community engagement. He noted her significant role in managing the city's reserve balance account.

Starr also acknowledged Woods for her six years of service starting in January 2020. He praised her representation of Ward Three residents with integrity and diligence. According to Starr, she collaborated effectively with council members and city staff to enhance policies that improved residents' quality of life.

Council members, including President Bruce Hawkins, joined in expressing appreciation for Seavolt's and Woods' contributions. City Treasurer David Stuller and Law Director Rob Broeren participated in honoring them. Stuller encouraged them to reach out if they needed assistance in the future. Broeren thanked them for their service and remarked, "I will miss you both."
