Experience Downtown Mount Vernon, a non-profit organization, is offering a range of events to engage the community in January 2026. The organization aims to create a vibrant downtown atmosphere through various activities and experiences.
One of the highlighted events is Neil Simon's play "Rumors," presented by the Alcove Dinner Theatre from January 30 to February 28 at 116 S. Main Street, Mount Vernon. The play features four couples attending a dinner party that turns chaotic when they discover the hostess is missing and the deputy mayor has suffered a minor gunshot wound. In addition to theatrical performances, several free events will take place at the Public Library of Mount Vernon & Knox County throughout January. These include a movie night featuring "Silverado" on January 14, Knox County Conversations on January 15, and an educational event about Newark Earthworks on January 21.
