The Knox County Special Olympics is inviting the community to its Basketball Game Fundraising Event, which will be held at Bladensburg Community Center on Friday, Dec. 5. A raffle will also be held during the event.
The game between the Knox Eagles and Masonic Members will start at 6 p.m.
“Come cheer on our Basketball Team as the[y] play a friendly game against the Masons!” the organizers invited in a Facebook post, encouraging the community to attend. "The crowd can 'bribe' the refs to add points, remove players, or have teams play duck duck goose during the game!"

Proceeds from the event, including the raffle, will support the Knox County Special Olympics program to acquire shirts, jerseys, equipment, and manage other sports-related costs.
Tickets for the Winter Basket Raffle are now available through Dec. 5, and supporters may either buy tickets or assist with sales. Tickets cost $5 each or $20 for five, and all entries are combined into one pot for a chance to win one of 15 prize baskets.

The Special Olympics in Knox County is a community-based program operating under Special Olympics Ohio and its national and international affiliates. Local athletes can participate in track and field, basketball, bocce, bowling, cheerleading, powerlifting, softball, swimming, and volleyball. The program offers year-round training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, creating opportunities to build fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and share skills and friendship with families, fellow athletes, and the wider community. The initiative is among several ways the Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities supports residents in leading active, inclusive lives.
