Knox Public Health will join communities nationwide in celebrating National Rural Health Day on November 20, 2025. This event, organized by the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health and other rural-focused organizations, occurs annually on the third Thursday of November. It aims to highlight the unique healthcare needs of approximately 61 million people living in rural America.

Zach Green, Health Commissioner, emphasized the importance of ensuring that all residents of Knox County have access to affordable and quality healthcare. "It is of vital importance that we ensure all of Knox County has the opportunity to be healthy and have access to affordable, quality health care regardless of where they call home," he said.

National Rural Health Day celebrates the contributions of health professionals and volunteers who work tirelessly in rural areas. "Knox Public Health is proud to recognize the incredible work of health professionals and volunteers in our community on National Rural Health Day and throughout the year," Green added.

Rural communities often face challenges such as limited resources but continue to find innovative solutions for healthcare access through local clinics and mobile services. These communities collaborate closely to address local needs, contributing significantly to national health and well-being.

Knox Public Health plays a part by offering outreach opportunities across Knox County. As one of the few health departments operating a Federally Qualified Health Center, it serves individuals through six locations within the county.
