MVNU basketball team opens season with dominant win over KSU Tuscarawas

Mount Vernon Nazarene University's men's basketball team began their season with a strong victory against Kent State University Tuscarawas. The game took place at Ariel Arena on October 29, where MVNU secured a decisive 125–75 win. Despite Kent State taking an early lead, the Cougars quickly found their rhythm and ended the first half with a significant 67–44 advantage.

MVNU's performance was marked by efficient shooting, hitting 63.5% from the field in the first half and making six out of seventeen three-point attempts. The team also capitalized on turnovers, forcing 28 from Kent State and converting them into 46 points. By maintaining pressure in the paint and winning the rebounding battle 44-42, MVNU extended their lead to as much as 54 points late in the game.

Isaiah Brown led MVNU with 16 points, five steals, three rebounds, and three assists. Peyton Heiss and Mason Harvey each contributed 15 points, while Devin Dreier added another 13. Coach Ronai expressed satisfaction with his team's growth and noted that many players experienced college-level competition for the first time.
