The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team is set to begin its 2025-26 season with an away game against Lawrence Tech in Southfield, Michigan on October 28 at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Cougars will continue their opening week by participating in the Chick-Fil-A Classic in Bourbonnais, Illinois, facing Governors State University on October 31 and Olivet Nazarene University on November 1.
The team's schedule for the season includes eight opponents that are either ranked or receiving votes in the preseason coaches' poll. Last season, MVNU ended with a record of 15-14 and placed sixth in the Crossroads League, which had five teams advance to the NAIA National Tournament. In this year's Crossroads League preseason poll, MVNU is projected to tie for eighth place.
Senior center Angela Roshak from North Canton, Ohio, returns as a key player for the Lady Cougars. Roshak has been recognized as a member of the All-League First Team in the Crossroads League preseason honors. Last year, she earned several accolades including All-Crossroads League Honorable Mention and CoSIDA Academic All-District Team while averaging 12 points, eight rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game.
Lauryn VanHoose steps into her first season as head coach after joining from Ohio Christian University during the offseason. Her new recruits include freshmen Addy Beard, Melodie Blubaugh, Abigail Hardwick, and Jenna Brumbaugh. The team also welcomes transfers Kylie Leibacher from Ashland University, Lily Shepherd from Ohio Christian University, Sophia Spangler from Tiffin University, and Anna Swisshelm from Thomas More University.
MVNU's home opener is scheduled for November 14 against Kentucky Christian University at Ariel Arena during homecoming weekend. They will also host Oakland City University on November 15 and begin their conference schedule against the University of Saint Francis on November 19.
