Four students from Kenyon College have been awarded the Austin E. Knowlton Memorial Scholarship, which supports Ohio residents interested in mathematics and related fields. The recipients are Noah Bartlett, Sarah Keller, Cynthia Stevens, and Jonathan Lee.

Noah Bartlett, a first-year student from Hudson, is contemplating a major in physics or chemistry. He is involved with the Kenyon track team and Club Swim and aims to volunteer as an emergency medical technician with the Mount Vernon Fire Department. Bartlett expressed his enthusiasm for physics: "What I love so much about physics is how much we don't know in physics," he said.

Sophomore Sarah Keller from Brunswick majors in physics and minors in Spanish. She participates in the Knox County Symphony and serves as a Community Advisor. Keller appreciates the scholarship's support: "STEM is so important to me because it encourages me to be curious," she said.

Cynthia Stevens, a junior from Columbus majoring in mathematics, plans to become a high school math teacher. An Eagle Scout and active troop leader, she enjoys the challenges of math: "I love sitting down to do a problem or write a proof," she remarked.

Senior Jonathan Lee from Cincinnati majors in math and statistics with a minor in music. He plays saxophone and directs the Kenyon Pep Band. Lee values how statistics can address real-world issues: "It is always satisfying to solve a mathematical problem," he noted.

The scholarship was established by the Austin E. Knowlton Foundation in 2014 to provide financial aid throughout students' four years at Kenyon College. Austin E. "Dutch" Knowlton was known for his contributions to education through his construction company that completed numerous projects across Ohio.

Kenyon College was founded in 1824 as Ohio's oldest private college and emphasizes liberal arts education. It has produced many Fulbright Fellows and ranks highly among Division III institutions for fostering NCAA Postgraduate Scholars.
