Kenyon College is set to host its annual Harvest Festival at the Brown Family Environmental Center on Saturday, October 18. The event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at 9781 Laymon Road in Gambier, Ohio.
The festival will offer a range of activities including a cider press, horse-drawn hayrides, and pumpkin decorating. Attendees can enjoy various children's activities, food trucks, vendors, and live music performances. The Kenyon Bluegrass Ensemble and folk musician Sarah Goslee Reed are scheduled to perform.
Noelle Jordan, Director of the Brown Family Environmental Center (BFEC), expressed enthusiasm for the event: "We look forward to this event every year. It's always so rewarding to see our Kenyon families and Knox County community families enjoying the season together."
The BFEC is a 700-acre nature preserve established by Kenyon College along the Kokosing River valley. This year marks its 30th anniversary since opening in 1995.
Food options at the festival will include offerings from Mama Lupes Kitchen and Tabouli Cafe. Additional attractions include rug-hooking demonstrations and plein air painters showcasing their art. The Gund Museum will present an art activity, while representatives from Philander Chase Conservancy will also be present.
Will Pritchard, a Post-Baccalaureate Fellow at BFEC and member of Kenyon's Class of 2025, shared his excitement: "Fall has always been my favorite time of year... I can't wait to see the community come out for it."
