Legend Elementary School, at 1075 Evans Blvd., Newark, will hold its Fall Harvest Celebration on Thursday, Oct 30. Kindergarten through fifth-grade students may participate by wearing costumes to school.
The classroom celebrations will take place from 2:00 to 2:55 p.m., with regular dismissal at 2:55 p.m., according to the school’s announcement.
The annual event aims to give students a fun and festive afternoon while maintaining a safe and respectful school environment. To ensure safety, the school has issued clear guidelines on costumes and participation. Students are asked to leave face masks, face paint, and costume accessories that could be considered violent or inappropriate, including fake weapons, at home.
Costumes must still comply with the school dress code, meeting standards for appropriate length, coverage, and comfort. School officials also reminded parents that costumes should be easy for children to move in during classes and restroom breaks. Inflatable costumes will not be allowed to remain inflated during the day.
In keeping with school policy, all class party donations must be store-bought and pre-packaged, and must be delivered to the school by Tuesday, October 28. The celebrations will be for students and staff only, with no outside visitors permitted.
“We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding as we celebrate together safely,” the school said in its statement posted on the school’s Facebook page.
Legend Elementary School is part of the Newark City School District, which is the largest district in Licking County.
"The Newark City School District serves approximately 6,000 students in 13 buildings - a centralized preschool, seven elementary schools (Grades K-5), three middle schools (Grades 6-8), one high school (Grades 9-12) and a digital academy (Grades 4-12)," according to its website.
