Members of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) across the nation marked the anniversary of its founding on October 11, 1890. This year also celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the DAR Day of Service. The day is dedicated to recognizing how members have supported their communities through various initiatives such as aiding veterans, enhancing educational institutions, and maintaining neighborhoods.

Locally, the Lucy Knox Chapter participated by assisting in the Hot Meals program at First Presbyterian Church. They contributed by chopping vegetables like onions, carrots, celery, and peppers for upcoming meals. This activity aligns with their ongoing dedication to community service over the past 135 years.

The DAR was founded to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Its members continue to honor these values through diverse community service efforts.
