Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) recently honored four recipients with the Legends of Loyalty award, presented by President John M. Berry, PhD. The award, initiated in 2011 by the Office of the President, is given annually at the Legacy and Leadership Dinner to individuals or organizations that have significantly impacted the college's history.
This year's honorees include the Newark Campus Development Fund (NCDF), Jacqueline Parrill, Sandra Walker, and Andrea Tozzi along with the Young Project. "This terrific group of individuals and organizations has truly impacted the trajectory of our college through their selfless service and unwavering support," said Berry. He added that their vision and commitment inspire efforts toward empowering students through education.
The NCDF continues to build on the legacy of its founders, Howard LeFevre and J. Gilbert Reese, by enhancing campus life and providing scholarships. Over $46 million has been disbursed to date, including more than $1 million annually in scholarships and grants.
Jacqueline H. Parrill serves as vice president of COTC and chief of staff for both COTC and The Ohio State University at Newark. Her role underscores a collaborative relationship between these institutions over her 20-year tenure.
Sandra Y. Walker contributed two decades to COTC’s nursing program, rising from part-time faculty to dean of technical studies. In 2020, she received a national leadership award from the Foundation of the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing.
Andrea Tozzi has been instrumental in developing COTC’s Italian Immersion Program since 2009 through his nonprofit organization, the Young Project. This initiative facilitates cultural exchange between Italian students and those from Newark.
