Lady Cougars triumph over IU East in straight sets

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's volleyball team, ranked 16th nationally, secured a victory against Indiana University East on Friday. The Lady Cougars, now holding an 11-5 record, played away at IU East, which has an 8-12 record.

MVNU won the first set with a score of 25-21, achieving 14 kills. They continued their momentum in the second set with a 25-22 win and a .250 hitting percentage. Despite IU East's early lead in the third set, MVNU finished strong with a 15-7 run to win the set 25-21 and complete the sweep.

Libby Evanshine led MVNU with ten kills, a .258 hitting percentage, and six digs. Evelyn Brown contributed nine kills with a .300 hitting percentage along with three digs and two blocks. Faith Maloney also added nine kills to her stats. Reagan Nuss supported the team with 29 assists and additional contributions in digs, kills, and blocks.

Looking ahead, MVNU will return to conference play against Goshen College on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. The match will take place in Goshen, Indiana.
