Members of the Daughters of the American Revolution Lucy Knox Chapter, along with Mulberry Church and the public, participated in a nationwide program called Bells Across America to mark Constitution Day on September 17. At 4 p.m., bells were rung at Mulberry Church in Mount Vernon to commemorate the 238th anniversary of the U.S. Constitution's reading in Philadelphia.

Mount Vernon Mayor Matt Starr issued a proclamation for Constitution Week, which runs from September 17 to 23. In his statement, he encouraged all citizens to read the Constitution and reflect on their privileges as American citizens. He also read this proclamation during the event.

Participants at the event joined together to read the Preamble of the Constitution and rang bells as part of the celebration. Additionally, history and social studies teachers in Mount Vernon City Schools and other county schools received teaching materials for use in their classes throughout the week.

The public is invited to visit educational displays related to Constitution Week at libraries in Mount Vernon, Fredericktown, and Centerburg.
