Danville's volleyball team showed potential on Saturday night, competing through challenging periods before ultimately losing 3-0 to Crestview in an away game.

The Blue Devils, with a current record of 2-5, demonstrated resilience by achieving eight aces, 19 kills, four blocks, and 47 digs. Hitter Zoey Neitzelt maintained her impressive season performance with nine kills and a block. Captain Emma Payne contributed significantly from the service line with five aces. Erin Crider was pivotal in defense, recording 15 digs and adding both a block and an ace.

Head coach Morgan Spitler expressed optimism about the team's response to adversity. "We found ourselves in a hole early, and unfortunately, we weren’t able to climb out of it," Spitler said. "But when we sparked a rally, the energy was there. We just need to learn to carry that momentum."

Spitler emphasized the importance of minimizing mistakes in volleyball and noted that the team is improving daily in this area. She said that turning positive moments into consistent performance will be crucial for future success. "That mindset shift is what will help us get over the hump," she said. "We’re ready to keep battling."

Danville aims to recover from this loss as they prepare to host Cardington on Tuesday, September 2.
