Four students from the Knox County Career Center's HVAC program have been recognized for achieving "On Track with HVAC" status. Mason Flack, Clayton Vance, Josiah Colon, and Logan Miller met all the necessary criteria to earn this distinction. The program was developed by Brad Schmidt, an HVAC instructor at KCCC, along with the KCCC HVAC Advisory Committee.
To achieve "On Track with HVAC" status, students must complete all credentials offered in the HVAC program, pass a drug test, have no more than eight absences during their junior year, and gain employment through KCCC’s Work-Based Learning program. Those who meet these requirements receive a tool bag filled with hand tools and an electric meter to help them start their careers in the HVAC industry.
This initiative is supported by local industry partners that form the HVAC Advisory Committee. Schmidt expressed his pride in the students' achievements: "It is a great privilege to reward a student that works hard to succeed and is determined to take on the next steps. This is the first group of many that will be part of ‘On Track with HVAC’. Congratulations, we are proud of you!"
The KCCC and its HVAC program extended gratitude to local businesses sponsoring "On Track with HVAC," including Lapp Heating & Cooling, IBEW 688, Universal Enterprise Inc., Coffing Electric, Advantage Air, and Mac Heating & Cooling.
