In the first newsletter of the school year, Principal Margy Arck extends a warm welcome to families as Dan Emmett Elementary begins a new school year. She expresses gratitude for the continued support of the school community and shares her excitement about the talented new staff joining the team.
Among the new faces are Mrs. West, who will be the new art teacher, and Mrs. Slater, who is stepping in as the speech teacher. Ms. Hempfield joins the kindergarten team, while Mrs. Denuit will be teaching second grade. Mrs. Fergurson brings her expertise to the third-grade classroom, and Ms. Smith will now be teaching the second grade.
Dan Emmett also welcomes two new intervention specialists, Mrs. Alverson and Mrs. Severns. The school also introduces three new aides—Mr. Foley, Ms. Haywood, and Ms. Rivera. Rounding out the additions is Ms. Neighbarger, the new cook, who will help keep students nourished and ready to learn.
Also featured is Mrs. Danzuso, the school’s Counselor and Social Worker, whose role is central to student well-being. She offers short-term counseling for individuals and small groups, teaches classroom lessons on emotional and behavioral skills, and coordinates the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program. Her work includes collaboration with outside agencies and close communication with families and staff.
In addition to the welcoming familiar and new faces, families are reminded to mark their calendars for key September events, including Grandparents Day, Fall Pictures, YES Concerts, and a 3rd Grade T-Shirt Sale.
Additional details on the recent updates at Dan Emmett are available in the school's newsletter.
