Ariel-Foundation Park is preparing for a busy fall season with several events lined up until November. The park recently hosted over 12,500 visitors on July 4th to celebrate both Independence Day and its 10th anniversary. Mike Miller, the Conservancy Manager, expressed gratitude to those who attended and contributed to the festivities.
The Friends of Ariel-Foundation Park Conservancy have successfully revitalized the River of Glass as part of this year's signature project. Visitors are encouraged to view this unique installation in person.
On September 12, Ariel-Foundation Park will participate in the United Way Day of Caring by organizing a volunteer clean-up around the Lakes area. Additionally, several events are scheduled for the remainder of the season, including "An Evening of Celebration for All Things Green" on October 9.
This event will take place at the Schnormeier Event Center within Ariel-Foundation Park and feature a free community concert by "Vaughn Wiester's Famous Jazz Orchestra," supported by the Knox County Foundation. The evening will also honor significant anniversaries: Owl Creek Conservancy and Philander Chase Conservancy's 25th anniversaries, Kokosing Nature Preserve's 10th anniversary, and both Knox County Park District and Brown Family Environmental Center's 30th anniversaries. Habitat for Humanity of Knox County will be welcomed as new neighbors.
The celebration begins at 5:00 p.m. with food trucks and display booths from greenspace partners, followed by entertainment from Mount Vernon native Vaughn Wiester's orchestra featuring vocalist Rachel Sepulveda from 6:00 to 8:15 p.m. A special program recognizing Owl Creek and Philander Chase Conservancies' milestones will occur during intermission.
