United Way of Knox County Ohio is calling on community members to participate in the Day of Caring 2025. This annual event, scheduled for Friday, September 12, from noon to 4:00 p.m., encourages individuals, families, and workplace teams to engage in volunteer projects throughout the county.

The event will commence with a kickoff lunch at Ariel Foundation Park's pavilion, where volunteers will receive project assignments. Participants will then proceed to their designated worksites with necessary instructions and tools provided.

Katie Ellis, executive director of United Way of Knox County, expressed her enthusiasm for the event: "Day of Caring is one of my favorite days to come to work. It brings joy to my heart to see people from all over the county come together to serve the local agencies who do so much for our community. Last year, we got to paint, clean, landscape, and build. Every worksite I visited was full of excited workers giving back. I can't wait for this year's event!"

This year's projects include home construction and cleanup activities with Habitat for Humanity; dog walking and bowl washing at the Knox County Dog Shelter; mailing tasks at Behavioral Health Partners; and yard work with organizations like Knox County Head Start, The Freedom Center, and The Winter Sanctuary.

Volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome. Morgan Meleca, a past participant, shared her experience: "Volunteering with United Way is a simple way to do good and see the impact right where you live."

Registration is open for individuals and teams interested in participating.
