Principal Miguel Thompson has released the August 2025 Centerburg Elementary newsletter to welcome families and share important reminders.
"My Vision for our school is to provide a fun, safe, caring, and challenging environment for learning for staff, students, and parents," Thompson stated.
Additionally, he encourages families to stay engaged by checking PowerSchool regularly for updates on student progress. Parents may contact beth.todd@centerburgschools.org for login issues.
With its commitment to support focused learning, the school is implementing its policy on personal devices. Students are required to turn off their mobile phones and smartwatches and keep them in their bags during the school day. Putting emphasis on learning, Thompson highlighted the strong connection between regular attendance and academic success. He shared an infographic from Attendance Works that illustrates how missing even a few days can impact learning outcomes.
"I encourage you to make sure your student is in school. Attendance is critical to students' success," Thompson said. "Students who are consistently in school have better grades and do better on local, state, and national tests. It is important that parents and schools work together to make sure every child is in school."
While Centerburg Elementary prioritizes strong attendance, the students' health comes first. Families are encouraged to monitor their children’s health closely and communicate with the school nurse when needed. However, if a student develops a fever of 100°F or higher, they'll be sent home to rest. The student must remain home for at least 24 hours after symptoms clear without medication.
Centerburg Elementary School is located at 207 S. Preston Street, Centerburg, Ohio.
