The Mount Vernon Fire Department will carry out its annual hydrant flushing in the northern part of the city from September 2 to September 30. The process will occur between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Residents are advised not to use washing machines during these hours due to potential water pressure fluctuations. If significant drops in water pressure or temporary outages occur, residents should contact the Mount Vernon Water Office at 740-393-9504.

Hydrant flushing is scheduled as follows: grids 6 and 7 from September 2-5; grids 8 and 9 from September 8-12; grids 10 and 5 from September 15-19; and grids 3, 2, and 1 from September 22-30.
