The American Red Cross is calling on donors to contribute blood or platelets to help maintain a stable blood supply. The organization emphasizes the need for all blood types, particularly O positive and B negative, and encourages individuals to schedule appointments to ensure that lifesaving products are available when needed.

In collaboration with PEANUTS, the Red Cross is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the beloved comic strip by offering an exclusive mystery bag containing one of four iconic T-shirt designs to those who donate blood between August 29 and September 21, 2025. "People coming together to care for one another is the humanitarian spirit shared by our Red Cross community and fans of PEANUTS," states the release. Some bags will include golden tickets, which can be redeemed online for all four T-shirts.

The organization highlights challenges such as changing routines and severe weather that could hinder donation efforts. Between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025, approximately 1,500 blood drives were canceled due to weather conditions, resulting in over 40,000 uncollected donations. As National Preparedness Month approaches in September, the Red Cross stresses the importance of making and keeping donation appointments where safe.

Upcoming opportunities for blood donation are scheduled across various locations from August 25 through September 15. Donors can book appointments via RedCrossBlood.org or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
