The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc. has recognized Dave and Kathy Daniels as the 2025 Outstanding Senior Citizens for Knox County. The couple was honored alongside eight other recipients from the district during a ceremony at Hawkins Corner on August 15.
Kathy Daniels has held significant roles in various organizations, including Board President of the Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging. Her leadership extends to positions such as Chairperson of Rehab Richland County’s Board of Directors and Vice Chair of Knox County Foundation. She is also involved with the Ackerman Nature Preserve Committee. Kathy's efforts have earned her numerous accolades, including induction into the Area Agency on Aging Hall of Fame.
Dave Daniels contributes to his community through his roles as Board Chairman of The Ohio State University at Mansfield and Middlebury Township Trustee. He is active on the Mid-Ohio Transit Authority Board and supports youth programs like the Knox County 4-H Club.
The Daniels' dedication was acknowledged by Knox County Commissioner William Pursel, who presented them with a proclamation. Another proclamation came from Senator Andrew Brenner.
Each year, one senior citizen from each of nine counties in the agency's service area is selected for this honor based on their contributions after age 60. The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging supports older adults and those with disabilities across several counties, providing services that promote independence and dignity.
