The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Mount Gilead Post has announced that an OVI sobriety checkpoint will take place in Knox County tomorrow evening. This initiative, funded by federal grants, aims to deter and intercept impaired drivers.
Lieutenant Holloway, commander of the Mount Gilead Post, said, "Based on provisional data, 581 people were killed and 4,352 were injured in OVI-related crashes last year in Ohio." He further noted that state troopers make approximately 15,000 OVI arrests annually to address the issue of dangerous drivers. "OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways," he added.
The specific location of the checkpoint will be disclosed on Friday morning.
