Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) has announced that its 2025 nursing graduates achieved a 100 percent first-time pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
According to MVNU, this achievement surpasses the current national average of 88.9%, as reported by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. The NCLEX is a standardized exam required for Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the United States, assessing readiness for nursing practice. MVNU highlighted that these results reflect the program's strong training and student preparation.
"This is an impressive achievement. The nursing program at Mount Vernon Nazarene University works hard to prepare students for practice through various innovative means and measures," said Dr. Debra Garee, Chair of the Division of Life and Health Sciences. Garee further said, "The 100 percent pass rate reflects the students' hard work, knowledge, and preparedness. Students are prepared through rigorous coursework, real-life simulations in the state-of-the-art simulation lab, and hands-on clinical experiences. Through evidenced-based practice, the nursing program continually works to create innovative ways to teach students."
MVNU offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a degree with strong career prospects due to the growing demand for nurses across many specialties, including maternal-child care and surgical nursing. According to MVNU, nursing is a versatile field where professionals provide essential support and make a positive impact on patients’ lives. Students receive comprehensive classroom instruction alongside practical clinical experiences in various healthcare settings. The program is housed in Hunter Hall, featuring a modern Nursing Skills Lab equipped with advanced patient simulators, virtual reality tools, and observation rooms.
