In collaboration with various groups, the Mount Vernon Police Department will host a hands-on bike safety event for children entering kindergarten through 3rd grade. The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Schnormeier Event Center in Ariel-Foundation Park, located at 10 Pittsburgh Avenue, Mount Vernon.
The Mount Vernon Safety Town will help build the children's confidence and promote safe riding habits. They will be taught the safety skills in a fun and interactive setting.
Children are encouraged to bring their own bike, scooter, and helmet, but for those without gear, scooters and helmets will be provided. The event is free, but registration is required, and families are asked to select only one session per child. Each child’s profile must include their grade level to ensure proper placement.
