The American Red Cross is calling on donors to give blood or platelets immediately to maintain a strong blood supply during the summer months. The organization emphasizes that Type O blood products are in high demand, especially as summer activities and severe weather can lead to a decrease in available reserves.

"Scheduling and keeping donation appointments are crucial this month to ensure blood products are constantly available in the weeks to come for all patients, including those in trauma situations that may require several lifesaving transfusions," said the Red Cross.

All blood types are needed, and donors can learn their blood type after donating. Appointments can be made by visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS, or using the Red Cross Blood Donor App. As an incentive, those who donate by July 14 will receive a pair of exclusive Red Cross x goodr sunglasses while supplies last. These sunglasses come with a customizable blood type sticker. More details can be found at RedCrossBlood.org/goodr.

Donors giving between July 15 and July 31 will receive a Fandango Movie Reward via email as a token of appreciation from the Red Cross. Additional information is available at RedCrossBlood.org/July.

Upcoming donation opportunities are scheduled across various locations including Knox, Licking, Buckeye Lake, Granville, Heath, Johnstown, Newark, and Pataskala throughout July.
