Today, Mount Vernon gears up for a spectacular Independence Day, made even more meaningful by the milestone 10th anniversary of Ariel-Foundation Park. The event is free and open to the public, offering a family-friendly atmosphere filled with music, food, and fireworks.
The celebration begins when the Schnormeier Event Center opens at 5:00 p.m. The concert series kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with Three Times the Charm, performing classic American standards. At 6:15 p.m., the Sirens Trio will entertain the crowd with acoustic versions of timeless pop and rock songs. Creedence Revived will perform at 7:30 p.m., leading up to the City of Mount Vernon’s fireworks display around 10:00 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the evening’s entertainment under the stars.
To accommodate the large crowd and ensure safety, several road closures will be in effect. Starting at 2:00 p.m., the road through The Woods and the main park road near the event center will be closed to general traffic. Pittsburgh Avenue will close at 8:00 p.m. for residential traffic only, and Columbus Road will close to southbound traffic at 9:30 p.m. Volunteers will assist with parking, which will be available in designated areas near The Lakes, the Clock House, and Harcourt Road. ADA parking will be offered on a limited, first-come, first-served basis in the SEC lot.
