Knox County libraries announce summer reading programs with diverse activities

The Knox County library system is gearing up for its Summer Reading program, offering a variety of activities and events across its locations. Patrons can explore in-person events or use online services by visiting the library's website at www.knox.net. The library encourages following their social media channels on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Google for updates. Mount Vernon Library will host several activities including "Teen Makerspace Mondays" on June 16 from 1 to 5 p.m., where students in grades 6-12 can create colorful clay creations and rainbow suncatchers. Younger children in grades K-3rd can join the "World of Colors" event at 4:30 p.m. On June 17, the library offers a storytime session for children aged 24 months and up at 10 a.m., followed by "Artful Dodgers" yarn art activity for grades 4th & 5th at 4:30 p.m. An adult book discussion on Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray" will take place at 7 p.m. On June 18, Lisa will lead a quilting session from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., open to ages 13 and up with limited space requiring registration.

Gambier Community Library invites families to storytime every Tuesday at either 10:30 a.m. or 4 p.m., starting June 17. On June 18, the library hosts Family Tie-Dye Day from either 10 a.m. to noon or from 3 to 5 p.m., providing tee shirts and bandanas for attendees.

Fredericktown Community Library's Adult Canvas Pour Painting class on June 16 is already full but promises unique creations using paint pouring techniques. Family Storytime occurs every Tuesday at 4:30 p.m., welcoming all ages without needing registration. Bubble Day is scheduled for June 18 at 1 p.m., targeting children in grades K-5th.

Danville Public Library will conduct Womenlead Wednesdays on the third Wednesday of each month starting June 18 through August, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., in the Danville Community Council Room. This support group aims to connect women in the community over various topics like parenting and health.
