Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) has announced that softball players Skylar Zimmerman and Avery Miller have been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region teams.
According to Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Skylar Zimmerman was selected for the NAIA All-Region V First Team after completing her freshman season as an outfielder. She started all 50 games in right field, achieving a .407 batting average. Zimmerman recorded 70 hits, drove in 40 runs, hit five home runs, and stole 10 bases. Defensively, she posted a .935 fielding percentage with 67 putouts.
Avery Miller was named to the NAIA All-Region V Second Team. The junior from Chillicothe, Ohio, also started all 50 games at third base for MVNU. She achieved a .432 batting average, hit nine home runs, and drove in 58 runs. Her RBIs set a new single-season record for the program, surpassing the previous record of 56 set by Kaycee Ollis in 2022.
The NAIA All-Region Teams recognize student-athletes across six regions through nominations and voting by NFCA member head coaches. Conference Players and Pitchers of the Year from member schools may be added to the second team if nominated and voted on. Those named to All-Region teams are then eligible for consideration for the NFCA NAIA All-America teams, which will be announced on June 5.
