MVNU track teams conclude NAIA Nationals with notable performances

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) men's and women's track and field teams concluded their participation in the 2025 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on Friday, May 23. The event was hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana.

MVNU's women's team secured the 31st position out of 69 teams, while the men's team finished in 34th place. Lyssi Snouffer achieved her second career All-American honor in the outdoor high jump, becoming the national runner-up with a jump of 1.72 meters.

Evan Hodkinson also earned All-American status for MVNU by finishing as the national runner-up in the 800-meter race with a time of 1:50.40. Earlier in the competition, Hodkinson participated in the 1500-meter race on Wednesday, May 21, where he placed 14th overall with a time of 4:02.82.

Tyler Shipley competed in the pole vault finals on the last day of the meet and achieved tenth place with a vault of 4.60 meters. Bryce Wiles began his national performances on Wednesday in the 200-meter semifinals, securing 14th place out of 31 sprinters with a time of 21.40 seconds. Wiles also ran in the 100-meter semifinals on Thursday, placing 11th overall out of 30 athletes with a time of 10.54 seconds.

The men's relay team comprising Simon Rohwer, Daron Porter, Evan Hodkinson, and Ryan Lehman competed in the 4x800 meter relay on Wednesday and finished in 11th place out of 30 relays with a time of 7:41.72.

Mason Hendrickson represented MVNU in the 3000-meter steeplechase on Wednesday despite battling an injury and managed to complete the race, finishing in 23rd place overall with a time of 10:18.22.

Mount Vernon Nazarene University is a private Christian teaching institution located on a main campus spanning over 327 acres in Mount Vernon, Ohio. It offers education to nearly 2,100 students from various states and countries through both traditional classroom settings and online platforms.
