Trojans tame Pirates behind Lemaster’s strikeout showcase | Centerburg Trojans Baseball/FB

Behind a dominant pitching performance from Daniel Lemaster, the Centerburg Trojans edged out Cardington-Lincoln 2–1 in a tightly contested matchup Wednesday evening.

According to the game summary, Lemaster struck out 15 batters while allowing just one run on five hits through 6 2/3 innings. The right-hander walked four before Ricky Faught came in to record the final out and earn the save. The Trojans got on the board early, scoring once in the second inning when Vinny Morgan delivered an RBI single. They added what proved to be the game-winning run in the third after Faught hit a sacrifice fly.

Cardington-Lincoln’s Wade was tagged with the loss despite a strong outing. He threw six innings, allowing two unearned runs on seven hits, striking out eight without issuing a walk. Centerburg’s offense was led by Ryan Long, Aiden Trobridge, and Morgan, who each collected two hits. Faught and Morgan drove in the team’s only runs.

The Trojans played clean defense, committing no errors. Mason Vallance led the team with 16 fielding chances. For Cardington-Lincoln, Denny went 2-for-4 out of the leadoff spot. Fiant added an RBI with a 1-for-3 performance. The Pirates also turned a double play on defense.

Centerburg will look to build on the win Thursday as they travel to face Johnstown-Monroe.
