Mount Vernon Nazarene University recently celebrated the retirement of seven faculty and staff members, marking over 170 years of combined service. The retirees include four faculty members and three staff members who have significantly contributed to the university's growth and success.
Dr. Colleen Bryan, a Professor of Psychology, has been with MVNU since 1989. She has served in various academic roles and holds advanced degrees from George Mason University and Eastern Nazarene College. Dr. Paul Madtes Jr., a Professor of Biology, has also dedicated 36 years to MVNU, playing a key role in developing the Biology program.
Professor John Donnelly, known for his contributions to the Art Department and local community murals, is retiring after 36 years. Dr. Yvonne Schultz, who joined MVNU in 2000, has held several leadership positions within the university.
Jeanna Howald retires as Head Women’s Softball Coach after achieving significant milestones, including 786 career wins. Wendi Lahmon served as Administrative Assistant to the Vice President for Student Life for 30 years, while Thomas McCoy was recognized for his work as a Housekeeper/Custodian over 11 years.
MVNU President Dr. Carson Castleman expressed gratitude for their service: "This year we bid farewell to a remarkable group of individuals who have dedicated their time talents and passion to MVNU," he said. "Their commitment to excellence in teaching and service has left a lasting mark on our community and they will be greatly missed by many."
