Mount Vernon High School senior Christopher Hawthorne has been recognized with the 2025 Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award for Knox County. This award, given annually by the Knox Educational Service Center alongside the Ohio Educational Service Center Association, honors high school seniors across Ohio for outstanding academic achievement and leadership.

The Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award, created in 1989, is presented to one senior from each county in Ohio. Recipients are recognized for their academic accomplishments, personal integrity, and commitment to school and community. Christopher's work ethic and intellectual curiosity have been evident through his engagement in advanced coursework and extracurricular activities.

Guidance Counselor Eryn Fawcett from Mount Vernon High School praised Christopher as “the top of the top when it comes to being a role model for our younger students.” She noted his strong desire to succeed and his sincere quest for knowledge, describing him as “dedicated, mature, kindhearted, and smart.”

In the autumn, Christopher will continue his academic journey at The Ohio State University to study physics and engineering. Mount Vernon City Schools extends its congratulations to Christopher on receiving this honor and looks forward to his future achievements.
