The Ohio State Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into a fatal traffic accident that took place on April 28, 2025, in Chester Township, Morrow County. The incident occurred at 11:37 AM on State Route 95 at Township Road 176.
Shirley Estridge, an 81-year-old resident of Fredericktown, Ohio, was driving a 2025 Chevrolet Trax southbound on Township Road 176. According to the patrol's report, Ms. Estridge did not yield the right of way from a stop sign and was hit by a 2021 Dodge Charger driven by Ethan Licthenberger, age 20, from Mount Gilead, Ohio.
Ms. Estridge was airlifted by Medflight to Ohio Health Grant Medical Center with serious injuries but later succumbed to her injuries. She was wearing a seat belt during the crash. Mr. Licthenberger sustained minor injuries and was transported to Morrow County Hospital; he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol received assistance at the scene from Big Walnut Fire/EMS and Morrow County Fire/EMS. Alcohol is not considered a factor in this crash, which remains under investigation.
