A Knox County jury deliberated for four hours before finding Michael Greywolf guilty of two counts of rape on April 10. He had been charged with forcible rape and the rape of a child less than 13 years of age.

According to a news release, Knox County Prosecuting Attorney Chip McConville said, "Ordinarily, forcible rape is a first-degree felony carrying a 3 to 11 year sentence, while rape of a child under 13 carries a sentence of 10 years to life." McConville further explained that "if found guilty of the sexual predator specifications, forcible rape carries a penalty of 10 years to life and the rape of a child under thirteen carries a sentence of 25 years to life."

The case was presented by Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Christine Williams. The investigation was conducted by Knox County Sheriff's Office Detective Matt White. The jury heard testimony from investigators, forensic examiners, and family members. An expert witness provided insights into some of the victim's behavior based on autism. The defendant also testified. Evidence was presented about two prior cases in which Greywolf was accused of sexually assaulting young females under similar circumstances.

Greywolf elected prior to the trial to have sexual predator specifications included in the indictment tried to the bench. Judge Richard Wetzel set a May 1 hearing date for these specifications after accepting Thursday's verdict.

The release also noted that Greywolf has prior rape convictions from Tennessee (1988) and Knox County (2001). Sentencing was set for May 8.
