During a period of uncertainty for food banks and meal services in Ohio, Food For The Hungry President Austin Swallow has reassured Knox County of the organization's ongoing support. Swallow said, "At Food For The Hungry, we remain unwavering in our commitment to support local food initiatives and our community, especially in these challenging times. Despite the announced financial cuts which may impact our food pantry partners here in Knox County and throughout Ohio, we are dedicated to ensuring that those who are most vulnerable in Knox County continue to receive the food and resources they need."
Swallow emphasized the organization's focus on finding innovative solutions to maximize donations. "We recognize the increasing demand for assistance and are focused on finding innovative solutions to maximize the impact of the donations you have entrusted to our care," he said.
The FFTH board has allocated $26,000 for Summer grants aimed at supporting Knox County's food initiatives. The grant committee will prioritize programs that address needs for families with children home from school during Summer. All local food initiatives are encouraged to apply between April 1 and April 30. Awards will be announced by early June.
