Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) has announced that its chamber choir, Una Voce, will perform a free concert at The Quarry Chapel in Gambier on Saturday, April 12, at 11 a.m. This announcement was made in a press release on April 4, 2025.
According to the press release, the 20-member a cappella group is directed by Carrie Vail and will perform a range of unaccompanied pieces titled "We Sing to You." The performance will feature selections in multiple languages and styles, spanning from early music to contemporary jazz.
Una Voce is described as a chamber SATB (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) choir comprising 16–20 auditioned members. The ensemble performs unaccompanied works in various languages and styles, including early music and jazz. It presents concerts during both semesters and concludes the academic year with a spring showcase of their full repertoire. Rehearsals are held twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:20 to 4:20 p.m., with additional participation in Wednesday Choral Union rehearsals during the fall semester. First-year students are required to join either Collegians Chorale or Treble Singers.
MVNU offers four audition-based vocal ensembles: Collegians Chorale, Treble Singers, Una Voce Chamber Ensemble, and Music Stage Production. Collegians Chorale is a 40-member SATB group that regularly performs at campus events such as chapel services, the Christmas Festival, and Spring Concerts. It also tours the Ohio region and occasionally abroad. Treble Singers is a women’s choir consisting of 20–30 members that performs locally and joins the Choral Union for seasonal presentations. Music Stage Production provides students with opportunities to participate in musical theater or operatic scenes.
