4-H camp is a treasured opportunity for kids across Ohio, including those in Knox and Licking County.

Memories of creeking, campfires and a number of staff and counselor taught programs are what keep kids and teens alike coming back.

In an effort to reduce fees for campers, the Licking County Farm Bureau is holding an omelette breakfast fundraiser on March 22 from 7:30-10 a.m. at Career And Technology Education Centers of Licking County (C-TEC) located at 150 Price Road in Newark. Proceeds will go directly to lowering camp fees for 2025.

Additional opportunities to donate include two raffles, before and during the breakfast. The most prestigious prize is a tall table featuring a custom 4-H logo, and the other prizes include baskets put together by local 4-H clubs. Participants do not need to be in attendance to participate.

Lisa McCutcheon, an educator in the 4-H Youth Development program, is leading the charge for Licking County camp.

“While 4-H Camp is offered at a very economical cost compared to many other hobby and sports camps in the central Ohio area, any time that we can reduce the financial impact on the family – that’s a win!” McCutcheon told the Mount Vernon News.

Last year, camp fees totaled $250 per camper and the proceeds from that breakfast fundraiser reduced the cost by $20 for all 298 attendees, including campers, counselors and adult staff.

The breakfast and raffle aren’t the only options to contribute to this cause.

“[People who want to support] can simply reach out to Licking County Farm Bureau with a donation,” McCutcheon said. “Funds can even be sent by Venmo directly to Farm Bureau and included in the donations collected from the event.”
