Father’s Table is a ministry of Mount Vernon First Church of the Nazarene and exists to help those in the community with basic dietary needs. Funds from Food for the Hungry help to make these services possible. Food for the Hungry has provided The Father's Table of Mount Vernon First Nazarene Church with a $3,000 grant. The funds supply weekly hot meals and monthly groceries to families in Knox County.

“I come here to see my friends. My husband of 45 years passed away and I stay at home mostly. I come here to see my friends, take food to some friends, and get a great meal myself. I love coming here,” said Sue, an individual that is served at Father’s Table.

Every Wednesday evening from 5 to 6 p.m. hot meals are served to 60-100 people. The individuals are provided well-balanced meals in addition to a few items to take home.

On the third Saturday of every month, families in the community are provided a box of groceries based on their household size. In October, Father’s Table served 24 households with children and 30 households without children. Each family is provided with 12 meals per person.

Father’s Table is very grateful for the generosity of the community in giving to Food for the Hungry and appreciates the continued financial support of Food for the Hungry; this support allows Father’s Table to continue to serve the people of Knox County.
