A property owner has requested approval from the Mount Vernon Board of Zoning Appeals for a variance to construct a 40-foot by 90-foot accessory structure on an East Gambier Street property, prior to the construction of a new house.

The application was submitted by Linn Bebout, who seeks to build the 3,600-square-foot, 22½-feet tall accessory structure on the front portion of the property. The submission was made on April 2, as per the Mount Vernon Board of Appeals agenda for its meeting scheduled for April 17. The property in question is located within a rural residential zoning district.

Bebout stated in the application that they require storage space for personal items during the construction of their new home. This information was also detailed in the Mount Vernon Board of Appeals agenda for its April 17 meeting. Among these items are several large objects that need secure storage in a sizable building. These include a motorhome, a 48-foot enclosed trailer, and three classic cars.

According to the same agenda from the Mount Vernon Board of Appeals, Bebout's plans for the property include constructing a three-bedroom, two-and-one-half-bath home with a full, unfinished basement. The proposed house will also feature a two-car garage.
