The Northmor wrestling team won the Robin Drumm Memorial Tournament at Heath High School over the weekend, beating out 21 other teams with Cowin Becker named Outstanding Wrestler.
Becker was the winner of the 132 pound class. He was 5-0 with three pins, highlighted by a 9-0 finals victory over 13th ranked Christian Browning.
“Becker is such an intense kid that just hates to lose,” said Coach Scott Carr. “He beat a solid kid in the finals and is really looking forward to make another push this post season.”
In the 106 pound class, Carter Thomas went 5-0 with five pins. He beat Anthony Unger of Utica in the finals. Brady Carr was 5-0 with four pins to win the 113 pound class.
Ethan Ames was second in the 120 pound class, going 4-1 with three pins. Arius Swaim was 4-2 with three pins, finishing fourth in the 144 pound class.
Carson Campbell won the 157 pound class, going 5-0 with four pins. Ashton Clark was the top wrestler in the 190 pound class, going 6-0 with five pins.
“The team really came together this weekend,” Carr said. “We had some kids step up and win some matches that they would have lost earlier this season. We are starting to turn the corner and gaining confidence.”
