Mount Vernon Nazarene University's Music Department is set to stage its annual Homecoming Concert on Saturday, Nov. 11 at the R.R. Hodges Chapel Auditorium.
The line-up will include music by the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Goliards Chamber Choir, Treble Singers Women’s Choir, Jazz Band, Flute Choir, String Ensemble and Collegians Chorale, said MVNU in a news release.
Additionally, guest alumni are expected to participate in performances by the Treble Singers and Symphonic Wind Ensemble. Alumni Logan Stroud and Allen Terwilliger will revive their duet/choral performance of “He Looked Beyond My Faults” with the Collegians Chorale. Trumpeter Vernon Harris is also scheduled to join in the performance, according to another MVNU news release.
The concert will conclude with an arrangement by Nick Robertson of "His Eye Is on the Sparrow" featuring combined choral ensembles along with Wind Ensemble. The selection of this piece followed discussions held at the General Assembly of the Church of the Nazarene in June. The guest conductor for this final performance will be 1983 MVNC alumnus Ray Bridges who majored in church music during his studies there as mentioned by an MVNU news release.
